The ACT Mental Health Strategic Oversight Group (SOG) is an advisory group to the Chief Executive of ACT Health.
The main purpose of the SOG is to develop an implementation plan for the period 2009-2014 aimed at realising the guiding vision articulated in the Mental Health Services Plan, and to guide and monitor progress toward achieving that vision.
What we do
In addition to this, the SOG will monitor the implementation of:
- Council of Australian Government (COAG) National Action Plan for Mental Health 2006-2011;
- Fourth National Mental Health Plan 2009-2014; and
- Revised National Standards for Mental Health Services.
Focus Areas
- Develop an Implementation Plan for the period 2009-2014 for achieving the 2020 vision articulated in the ACT Mental Health Services Plan.
- Design and implement an independent, outcome focused monitoring and evaluation framework.
- Coordinate service development proposals and make recommendations on priorities for budget submissions consistent with the proposed network of services.
- Review service design and redesign proposals for consistency with the planned network and impact on other services.
- Research evidence base and best practice regarding service development proposals and service development proposals within budget constraints.
- Provide advice on adjustment of the elements of the planned network over time.
- Monitor and report against progress on the Implementation Plan and implementation of agreed strategic priorities.
- Provide to the Chief Executive ACT Health an annual report on progress in achieving the plan.
- Ensure that the objectives of the Fourth National Mental Health Plan 2006-2011, the Council of Australian Government’s National Action Plan for Mental Health, the National Standards for Mental Health Standards are met.
